Tire Shop Burglar Walks Right into the Arms of the Law

A Luzerne County man was caught by Bristol Borough Police early Thursday morning after  burglarized a local tire shop.

Francis Caputo, 59, of Shavertown was arraigned early Thursday morning, on one count of felony burglary, one felony count criminal trespass and one count of criminal mischief, by Judge  Frank W.  Peranteau Sr.

According to Police, the alarm at Mavis Tire Center, 95 Commerce Circle, was set off early this morning. Acting Sgt Chuck Palmer, quickly responded to the call, catching the alleged burglar as he was leaving the tire shop, placed in handcuffs and arrested him.

Earlier this month Burglar’s broke into the Autozone next door to the Mavis, getting nothing but did cause unspecified damage to the auto shop,.

Caputo was subsequently released on an unsecured bail set by Judge Peranteau  of $40,000.00.

He is currently scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on September 7.
