A spokeswoman for PECO said permanent repairs were made to the gas service line punctured earlier today by a non- affiliated contractor on Bath St.
No customers were impacted, the spokeswoman said adding anytime PECO customers smell a possible natural gas leak they should call 1-800- 841-4141 as soon as possible.
As to why gas related issues keep happening when infrastructure work is performed in Bristol, PECO said they could not provide an accurate answer at this time but would look into the matter in the coming days.

A gas line was punctured Monday morning by work crews working on utility construction in Bristol Borough.
The incident occurred just after 10 am on the 500 block of Bath Street.
Bristol Borough Deputy Fire Chief Alex “AJ” DeAngelis, said the leak was being contained using two fire hoses on either end of the block.
The noxious fumes poured out all over the block, but were more apparent at the Buckley and Bath Street intersection.

The street is closed to thru traffic between 9 am and 3 pm weekdays for the ongoing utility work.
Meanwhile, the question of why gas leaks occur so frequently in Bristol Borough when infrastructure work is being performed has no official answer. Unofficially there have been at least two gas leaks caused by work crews recently.
Borough first responders spoke with residents on the block telling them there was no safety hazard outside of the acrid odor gas that was contained.
PECO officials as of 1:15 pm were working on gathering information about the gas leak, and said they would respond shortly. The street is closed to traffic until 3 pm, due to the road work.
