NYC Man Nabbed for Fake Lic Plate, Vehicle Documents, Admits He Planned to Steal FedEx Package, Cops Say

With reports of  packages stolen from the front doors of  Lower Bucks County residents in Middletown Township, Bristol Township, and  Morrisville, the recent arrest of a New York City man by township police could prove to be very useful in days to come.

According to a criminal complaint filed last week, a porch pirate detail was on the lookout for suspects on October 1 in the area of Orchid Lane in the Levittown section of Bristol Township.  Investigators were awaiting a FedEx delivery of an Apple iPhone. While in the area police observed a silver Toyota that appeared to have a forged license plate. A check on the plate number returned  no results, resulting in police conducting a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Ronald Taveras-Aguilar, 32 of New York City, “gave conflicting stories” about why he was in the area and also provided police with alleged insurance and registration documentation, police said.  The insurance documents appeared to be fraudulent with police noting inconsistencies.  State Farm Insurance told police no policy exists connected to the vehicle and policy number. The suspect was Mirandaed and placed into custody waiting on a Spanish translator to arrive on scene, court records show.

Taveras-Aguilar, after he was mirandized, told police he was in the area to steal the package, from the location police were surveilling, after FedEx delivered it.

He was charged with criminal attempt of theft, and two counts of possessing fraudulent insurance and registration documents, all misdemeanors. He spent about three days in jail before a bail reduction request was approved, posting the required 10 percent of $25,000.00 on October 4. Taveras-Aguilar is scheduled to appear in court on November 12.
