Croydon Man Struck in Hit-and-Run on Christmas Eve

A Bristol Township man was struck in  a hit and run accident Christmas Eve in which the striking driver fled the scene police said.

According to Police, the pedestrian was stuck shortly after 5 p.m. in the area of State Road and Fourth Avenue in the Croydon section of the township.

Police said the initial investigation shows a male attempted to cross State Road in the area of Fourth Ave. The male had fallen in the roadway and was struck by a dark color SUV or Pickup truck. The victim was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital.

After striking the victim, the dark color SUV or Truck left the scene on State Road towards Bensalem Township, said police and witnesses to the tragic holiday incident.

Commenters on Croydon based social media pages reported hours later the victim had succumbed to his injuries, although posters identified the man killed in the accident, the publication will withhold the name  until police release the name and confirmation of the death and family members are notified.

Meanwhile anyone who has information about this crash is asked to contact Officer Kenneth Margerum of the Bristol Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit at 267-812-2991.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Croydon Fire Department and the Bucks County Rescue Squad.
