Two Bristol Township Police officers were commemorated for their on the job heroic actions, one of which helps answer questions about a car fire at the Levittown Trace apartment complex last month and the second officer responsible for the destruction of drug organization distributing methamphetamine and “ghost guns in Lower Bucks County.
Kyle McKenna, a four-year veteran, and Edmond O’Brien, a 23-year officer and a veteran of the US Army, were awarded commendations for valor by Chief of Police Robert Coulton.
Coulton was joined by Lt Sean Cosgrove for the commemorative ceremony.
“On Saturday, August 10th 2024 at 2:19 p.m., *McKenna responded to a reported vehicle accident at the Levittown Trace apartments, 3000 Ford Road. Bucks County Radio received multiple calls from onlookers at the scene in the parking lot that a vehicle on fire and the driver was trapped and unconscious. McKenna, upon arrival, saw the vehicle was engulfed by flames and with no hesitation, just pure instinct, ran towards the burning vehicle, open the door, locate the unconscious driver inside, despite heavy fire and smoke, and carry him to safety as medical personnel arrived and rendered care to the unconscious driver. It was discovered the driver was a diabetic and most likely suffered a diabetic emergency. The driver sustained no life-threatening injuries as a result of McKenna’s immediate actions and disregard for his personal safety. For the actions on August 10th 2024 regarding a trapped community member, McKenna was awarded the Commendation of Valor,” Coulton said.

O’Brien was assigned to the narcotics unit when he began an investigation involving narcotic sales and the sale of illegal firearms (Pentz Drug Gang) During the course of his investigation, several illegal firearms were manufactured and illegally sold. His extensive investigation involved seven suspects who were arrested and convicted with sentences and guilty pleas up to 20 years for corrupt organization and firearms violations. This led to federal charges being adopted on multiple conspirators. For officer O’Brien’s hard work and dedication to the job and his dedication to this investigation, he was awarded the Commendation of Merit, said Coulton said.
Both were given standing ovations by community members attending the meeting.
