A woman driver was taken into custody by police early Independence Day morning after crippling a PECO power line pole on Rt 13 in the Croydon section of Bristol Township.
The single vehicle crash occurred around 3 a.m. on the 2200 block of Bristol Pike with the car coming to rest about 100 yards away, a tipster told Lower Bucks Source, by the Red Lion Gas Station.
Croydon Fire Chief Tom Tryon said the crash didn’t cause a power outage in the area and PECO was unaware the power line pole was down and needed repairs.
It didn’t even show up as a glitch on their power grid, Tryon said adding PECO had no idea about the powerline pole fracture until he notified the energy company.
The as yet unidentified woman driver, Tryon said, was taken into police custody.
An online review of currently available court records Thursday afternoon failed to identify the suspect.
No injuries were reported and the powerline pole is receiving treatment for its injuries from PECO personnel at last check.
