A Delaware County man seeking a bed in substance abuse facility was denied access and subsequently fought with hospital security staff at a local medical facility.
Falls Township Police respond to Jefferson Bucks Hospital, 380 North Oxford Valley Road, for reports of a disorderly patient on January 2, 2026 at approximately 3:16 a.m.. Reports indicated the unruly patient fought with hospital staff, requiring seven to eight people to restrain him.
When Falls Twp Police officers arrived on scene, Christopher Duffy, 31 was being held down on the Emergency Room waiting room floor by personnel.
Duffy, according to police, came to the hospital for drug detoxification. He had been cleared for detox, but became agitated when he learned he would not be sent to a rehabilitation facility immediately. Duffy refused to leave the premises when asked.
A security officer attempted to lead Duffy out of the building and the suspect allegedly struggles with him with both falling into a wall, damaging a phone and a portion of the wall. Duffy then allegedly strikes the victim on the right side of his head, causing bruising above his forehead, police said in the affidavit.
On-call Judge John T. Galloway arraigned Duffy on one count of aggravated assault, and misdemeanors, of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
Galloway set bail at 10 percent of $75,000. Duffy was remanded to Bucks County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 14.
Currently, Duffy has no attorney of record, according to online court records.
