Distracted Driving Sends Operator to Hospital After Crash in Fairless Hills

Joanne Ames - Lower Bucks Source

Being distracted while driving caused a Thursday evening accident in Fairless Hills damaging the involved vehicles and sending one person to the hospital, according to Falls Township Police.

A 24-year-old Fairless Hills resident was operating his 2023 Ford Escape when, due to distracted driving, he drifted toward the right shoulder of North Olds Boulevard. He struck a parked, unoccupied 2016 Nissan Altima. The collision caused the Ford Escape to overturn with both vehicles sustaining disabling damage, said Falls Township Police Lt. Chris Clark.

The area of North Olds Boulevard between Edgemont Road and Austin Drive was blocked to traffic, detouring drivers to the two residential sections surrounding Olds Blvd. to bypass the blocked-off section and return onto Olds Blvd.

The Ford Escape operator was transported to Saint Mary’s Medical Center for non-specified minor injuries Clark, said.

In June, the Paul Miller Jr Law also known as the Distracted Driving Law, went into effect. It prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other momentary delay. \

A review of online court records Friday did not show citations filed by Falls Twp Police for distracted driving related offenses.
