A Levittown man is behind bars at Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF) Monday as he is accused of beating his significant other and hitting her son with a chair late Saturday.
The assault played out at Pennsbury Woods Apartments on the 9100 block of New Falls Road in Falls Township.
Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex after receiving an assault in progress dispatch. Upon arrival, suspect Anthony Ortiz, 43, was taken into custody. Responding officers spoke to each of the victims and noted their visible injuries. Ortiz’s significant other presented with bruising on her face and a lump on the back of her head. Her son, the second victim in the attack who was trying to defend his mother, presented with scratches and abrasions on his arms and was hit with a chair, according to court records.
The victims told police Ortiz’s rampage started because he believes his girlfriend is cheating on him, police wrote in court papers.
District Judge Regina Armitage arraigned Ortiz early Sunday morning on charges of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, two counts of reckless endangerment remanding him to BCCF setting his bond at 10 percent of $50,000.00. He is currently scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at Falls Twp District Court on August 6. He has no attorney of record presently, according to court records.
