Woman Who Aimed Hand Gun at Falls Police Officer Sentenced to Spend up 23 Months in Jail, Write Apology Letter

A 47-year-old woman who pointed her gun at a Falls Township Police office decided to forego a jury trials so she could plead guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and one count of felony fleeing during a hearing  last week at the Justice Center in Doylestown.

Common Pleas Judge  Stephen A. Corr  signed of on the pleading last Thursday at pre-trial conference in which the accused, Karen Stevens-Nunez , agreed to write an apology letter to the officer she pointed black semi-automatic handgun at last June in the Fairless Hills Self Storage parking lot on South Oxford Valley Road.

Corr sentenced Nunez-Stevens  to spend up to 23 months in jail, 36 months of probation on the fleeing charge, court costs, mental health/drug and alcohol evaluation
and she is not to own or possess firearms or any other item that can fire a projectile and pay $500.00 in fines and court costs.

According to an arrest warrant filed  on in July, 2024, Saturday afternoon,  a passing motorist flagged down a Falls Township officer asking for a wellness check on a person in the Fairless Hills Self Storage parking lot on South Oxford Valley Road.  The officer positioned his fully marked patrol vehicle behind a blue Mitsubishi hatch back displaying no registration.  Karen Stevens-Nunez, was sitting outside by the opened front driver’s side door. Nunez then stood up and reached into the front driver’s compartment pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, turned to face the officer and pointed the gun towards him. In fear for his safety, he put his vehicle in drive and went around Nunez and her vehicle on the passenger side. The officer created distance and gave orders over his vehicle’s loud speaker for her to drop the weapon, according to the probable cause. She then got back into her vehicle and fled the area. She was arrested days later by Trenton Police.
