In 2022, a large-scaled fight with no report of first-hand police knowledge led to a shooting the same day, an arrest followed in 2023 and a finally a second apprehension this week.

It all started with a large fight between two groups of juveniles and young adults on August 23, 2022. The fight occurred on the grounds of the Penn Valley Elementary School and was reportedly due to accusations over a fake Instagram account used to desecrate the memory of a young man.

After the fight where one or more person(s) utilized knives or other cutting instruments, three adults and one juvenile were injured, and a little before midnight, Falls Township Police were dispatched for a report of a shooting in the area of the Levittown Parkway and Willow Way, police said.

The police were informed that it was a road rage incident in which the caller said he was cut off by a vehicle and occupants of two white vehicles. One of the white vehicles was described as a sport utility vehicle and an occupant(s) shot at him. The vehicles then fled into the Willow Wood section of Levittown,  court records show.

Officers arrived in the area and began checking for the  reported involved vehicles.  A few minutes later, a police sergeant reported that he was in the 100 block of Willow Drive where a resident reported that someone shot at her house. Officers checked the street in front of the residence and located seven 9mm and one .45ACP fired cartridge casings (FCCs) in the street. Seven projectiles were recovered from numerous areas in the residence. It was noted that one of the projectiles penetrated a bedroom striking a pillow on a bed. The damage to the residence was in excess of $5,000.00. Eight people, five adults and three juveniles, were in the residence at the time of the shooting. One adult and two juveniles were at the earlier fight, where one of the juveniles was injured, the probable cause alleges.

Shortly after midnight, one of the shooters was last seen on Willow Drive heading  towards Mill Creek Road police said.

A neighbor’s video surveillance footage for that night, police were able to identify the vehicles. One vehicle was a black sedan. The white sport utility vehicle was identified as a white Dodge Durango after matching motor vehicle credentials and was located at the registered address. An officer went to the registered address and observed the Durango, which sported damage to the driver side and mirror. The driver was identified as Corey Tulband, 20, Levittown, Falls Township, and the Durango was registered to his mother. The vehicle was impounded and contact was attempted with Tulband with negative results, court records allege.

A search warrant was executed on August 31, 2022 for the Durango, suspected in the shooting at the Levittown residence.  Seized as evidence was a black folding knife, and four .45ACP FCC’s. A search warrant was also executed for the vehicle’s registered address.  Found in the residence was a blue Smith & Wesson M&P.45 pistol box, and a Bladetech BLK pistol holster, police said.

In November of 2022, detectives spoke with Gavin Stanec. Stanec and his girlfriend received a call, on the day of the fight, from Tulband. Tulband was upset because two people were stabbed in the fight. Tulband told Stanec to meet him at Tulband’s home. Stanec said, he and Tulband went with one other person to the school where the fight occurred. Stanec sat in the front passenger seat of the Durango. When they did not locate anyone at the school, the group went to the residence in Willow Wood, where Tulband and the other person discharged their firearms at the residence on the 100 block of Willow Drive. Stanec noted that Tulband shot his own vehicle. They specifically shot the residence in retaliation for the stabbing at the fight, police allege.

After the shooting, the three returned to the Tulband’s residence, and subsequently, went to another associate’s residence, only identified as “Kevin”, to dispose of the firearms. Stanec and his girlfriend stayed at Tulband’s residence that evening and saw Tulband remove the license plate from the Dodge Durango the next morning, the criminal filing says.

On January 22, 2024, police spoke with Stanec, who admitted that he was not honest during the first interview. He then presented a second scenario and police told him he was still not being honest. Stanec then admitted to being the second shooter with Tulband and admitted to shooting at the residence while driving his girlfriend’s car.

Stanec was arrested on March 10, 2023 for the August 2022 shooting into the occupied residence on Willow Drive.

In December of 2023, Stanec was sentenced to 23 months after pleading guilty to discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. He was granted immediate parole for time served from March 2023,

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Tulband was arraigned on 16 felony counts of aggravated assault with extreme indifference, 16 felony counts of firearm discharge, one felony count of unlicensed firearm, two felony counts of criminal mischief and a slew of lesser degree related offenses. Free after posting 10%/$100,000 bail, he awaits his next court date, which is set for September 17, according to court records.
