Levittown Man Heads to Trial on Assault, Strangulation Charges

Credit: Lower Bucks Source

District Judge John Galloway ruled at a preliminary hearing on Wednesday that there was enough evidence to sustain strangulation, simple assault, and harassment charges filed against a Levittown man earlier this month.

Bradley Thompson, 45 was arrested and jailed on September 8 after a domestic dispute on Viewpoint Drive. He was accused of assaulting and harassing the victim, who voiced concerns about his alcohol use.

Thompson was highly intoxicated and slurring his words throughout the incident police said in the probable cause.

The verbal altercation continued into the back of the residence where Thompson reportedly pushed the victim. The victim pushed him away, she told police but the verbal altercation continued into the living room of the residence, court paperwork alleges.

Thompson, allegedly, continued to yell and scream at the victim with his nose pressed up into her face. She attempted to walk away numerous times but he blocked her with an intimidating posture. Thompson then grabbed the victim and slapped her. When the victim attempted to defend herself by punching him, he put her in a headlock and pushed her head to the ground. This action caused bruising and pain in the back of her neck. She was able to free herself from the headlock but the altercation continued when he tried to enter a child’s bedroom on the first floor outside of the living room, police said.

When the victim attempted to stop him from entering the room, Thompson grabbed her around the neck with his right hand and began strangling her.

The victim told Falls Twp. Police that she had difficulty breathing. Officers noted red marks and bruising in her neck area, allegedly caused by Thompson

Thompson was arraigned on September 9 by on-call Judge Michael W. Petrucci who set bail at $150,000.00. After spending four days at Bucks County Correctional Facility (BCCF) hopefully sobering up had his bail reduced to $10,000 by court order on September 12, and was released.

He currently has no attorney of record, according to online court records, and is now due back in court next month to be formally arraigned on the charges.
