Middletown Twp Honors Officers for Chasing Down Gun Shop Burglars

A familiar name in local police circles was commended with several other area police officers for the pursuit and capture of gun store burglary suspects at a recent Middletown Township Board of Supervisors meeting.

Chief of Police Joe Bartorilla announced the commendations in a ceremony on August 14.

Bartorilla said on May 30th the LugerMan Inc. gun store was burglarized by teenagers from Philadelphia who took off with 21 stolen weapons and ammunition which was covered by LevittownNow.com

Middletown Twp Police officers Huff and Alexa Moors, daughter of Bristol Borough Chief of Police Joe Moors immediately responded to the call and saw a vehicle leaving the store at a high rate of speed.

They pursued the stolen vehicle through Middletown and into Trenton, New Jersey. The vehicle was partially disabled by Falls Twp. Officer Blickley who threw down stop sticks during the pursuit. The occupants bailed from the vehicle in Trenton, where  officers created a perimeter so that Trenton PD could take over the foot pursuit.

All three subjects were captured and incarcerated, said

Officer Agostino was also given a commendation for his role in the incident, as well as Detective Platenecky who spent untold hours doing paperwork, search warrants, photographing and processing the scene of the crime. It is horrifying to think what those 21 guns could have been used for if not for the quick actions taken by these officers.

Excellent job by all, said Bartorilla.

Gun-shop owner Eugene Golubtsov told LevittownNow.com that he ‘thanked God’ for the quick arrests and guns captured.
