Earlier this week, Lower Bucks Source reported on the arrest of Bryson Romanek, who was charged with simple assault and related offenses connected to a ride home from a party in Levittown on July 15 in which two brothers were attacked.
Police arrested Adam P. Wiley, 20 of Morrisville, late Wednesday, charging him with eight counts of aggravated assault, four counts of simple assault, and nine other related offenses for his response to the attack in which he was also assaulted.
As reported Tuesday, Wiley was asked by four friends for a ride from a Levittown party to Morrisville. The ride included the two brothers and four friends. On the way to Morrisville, Bryson Romanek, allegedly started to choke Adam’s brother. In response to Romanek complaining about Wiley’s alleged erratic driving, Romanek told police, the brother screamed in his face and that’s when Romanek started to assault him.
Wiley stopped the car, on West Trenton Avenue in front of the Morrisville Post Office, to assist his brother. Romanek and the other unidentified three friends attacked him. The alleged assault continued as the driver fell to the ground and was beaten while prone. The four subjects fled when Wiley threatened to run the group over with his mother’s car.
According to court papers, Wiley told police, after the group fled, he saw them in the front of Rock Spring Apartments, drove onto a grassy area telling the four he was going to run them over. He told police he was only trying to ‘scare’ them. The group fled the area and he and his brother went home.
Romanek, when interviewed by Falls authorities, admitted to starting the fight. He told police, he yelled at Wiley because he was driving recklessly and thought he was going to die. They shouted at each other and that’s when the brother yelled in his face and Romanek started to choke him, daring the brothers to fight if they had a problem, according to court records. After the assault, the group of four were walking, Romanek said, when they heard the revving of a car engine. Romanek said, Wiley jumped the curb, driving the vehicle quickly, and chased the group onto the grassy area of the Rock Springs apartment complex with two victims hiding behind a tree, a third running in another direction, and Romanek hiding behind a fence. He told police, Wiley’s vehicle was about 10 feet away from him and he thought he was going to die.
Wiley was released on unsecured bail with his next court date scheduled for August 6 in Falls Twp District Court.
