A recently hired Falls Township Police Officer was sworn in Monday in a brief ceremony held at District Court.
Falls Township Police welcomed Officer Michael Mraw who was sworn in this morning by Judge Jan Vislosky. Prior to being hired as one of Falls Finest, Officer Mraw was an officer in Broward County, Florida for the last four and a half years on patrol in the Hollywood.
Mraw, a native of Hamilton, N.J., graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree and is enrolled in a master’s program. He served in the Army National Guard and rose to the rank of First Lieutenant. Mraw has worked for the last four and a half years as a police officer in Hollywood, Fla.
Earlier this year Falls announced Mraw’s hiring with four other officers as part of a what township officials characterized as first since the 1970’s with the hiring of the five simultaneously.
“This is the most officers we’ve had sworn in since 1979,” Police Chief William Wilcox said, thanking the Supervisors for their diligence. “This certainly helps us, and it looks like we have a fine crop of candidates.”
“The search has been on for a couple years now,” Supervisors Chairman Jeff Dence said in January swearing in of three of the five officers. With the new officers, the Falls Township Police Department has 55 sworn police officers,”
Supervisors Vice Chairman Jeff Boraski said in February the board and police are “looking forward and ahead to having replacements in place as long-time officers plan retirement.

Additional officers could be hired this year if current active duty police officers retire, said Lt. Whitney.
