The Lower Makefield Township Police Department is inviting locals to apply for their Citizens Police beginning in January.
A free, interactive program for LMT residents ages 18 and older that gives community members a hands-on look at modern policing in Lower Makefield Township, according to officials.
What you’ll experience
– Meet Your Officers: Engage with the men and women of LMTPD and learn how our department is structured and staffed.
– Behind-the-Scenes Access: Explore patrol operations, 9-1-1/dispatch coordination.
-Criminal investigations, traffic safety, special units, and community policing initiatives.
Hands-On Activities: Take part in traffic stop simulations, mock crime scene processing, K-9 demonstrations, use-of-force decision making discussions, and scenario based problem solving.
– Real-World Context: Learn about legal considerations, evidence handling, and how
community partnerships help prevent crime and improve quality of life.
Schedule & Location – Only 1.5 hrs per week.

Graduation: The academy concludes with a brief graduation ceremony recognizing your achievement.
Optional Opportunities: Ride-along and additional training experiences may be offered based on availability.
Eligibility
Age: Applicants must be 18+ by the first session.
Residency: Lower Makefield residency is preferred but not required; participants must commit to in-person sessions.
Background Check: For safety and security, selected applicants are subject to a limited background screening.
Cost: Free to participants.
