Lower Makefield Man Sent to Prison, Victim Shares Relief & Hope

A Lower Makefield woman Monday  was able to reclaim her power and dignity as the man who raped and assaulted her, pleaded guilty in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas to sexual assault, and corruption of a minor

Cody Jammer, 26 of Lower Makefield will spend at least 10 months and up to 23.5 months in Bucks County Prison as part of the guilty plea he entered Monday during in Doylestown in front of Court of Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey G. Trauger.

Jammer  will be supervised by the sexual offender unit, have a mental health evaluation completed, no contact with the victim and pay her restitution for behavioral health services she’s received as part of his sentencing

As previously reported, Jammer was arrested and charged in August of 2021 by Lower Makefield Police.  Police said he raped, assaulted, and sexually extorted a Lower Bucks county woman. The assaults started, police say, when the victim was 13.

The court case winding through the justice system during the COVID-19 pandemic slowed the process down some, as Bucks County Courts dealt with case backlogs.

Jammer again came to the attention of this news outlet, after the Lower Makefield victim’s family expressed frustration he was free and able to commit more acts of violence against women they contended.

Lower Bucks Source through a records request obtained arrest records from Florida

Jammer while attending classes at Tampa Bay University was arrested and charged in two cases involving a woman identified in police documents  as his “girlfriend,” this publication exclusively reported in April.

Jammer was sentenced to two years of probation in one of the two cases in which he pleaded guilty to domestic battery, Hillsborough County Court records show.

Police said he had strangled the Florida victim several times according to court records.

This publication spoke with the victim, who we will identify as “L” in the Bucks County case during the spring. At the time she was back in school and coping with the trauma she experienced as a result of Jammer raping her, but in a moment brutal honesty, recognized she was just beginning to “heal” she said.

After Jammer was sentenced and taken out in handcuffs, Lower Bucks Source spoke with L and her older sister by phone.

“I am so glad this is over, she said “I can start life all over again tomorrow and that’s all I wanted. Just wanted it to be done and over so I can move forward.”

Her older sister said she saw something different about her sisters energy from the moment she stood up to read her impact statement.

“I am so proud of her” she said, beaming at about her siblings “strength.”

The victim said, she hugged Assistant District Attorney Mary Kate Kohler  two times at the end of the hearing realizing the process was now officially over.

“She was amazing,” said L. “Just amazing! No one could have advocated for me better.”

Kohler was equally impressed with L’s determination and courage.

“L is a special young woman who is determined not to be defined by this defendant’s criminal actions against her. Her courage throughout this process was inspiring. I have no doubt her story will inspire others to stand up to their abusers and seek justice.”

Now with her life no longer in a holding pattern. And a ending that sends the man who victimized her to jail, this reporter asked what’s next?

An August trip, to Italy she said to sip wine on the beach, her smile beaming through the phone.
