Updated: Father, Son Identified in Lower Makefield Murder-Suicide

Lower Makefield in a press release identified the victims in what’s being investigated as a “murder-suicide” authorities said.

47-year-old male Joseph Rozario who had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and his 8-year-old son Fabian also appears to have a gunshot wound to the head.

Lower Makefield Township police said they were dispatched to 532 Heritage Oak Dr. for a well-being check. Officers checked the perimeter of the home and observed two unresponsive people inside. When the officers entered, they discovered both were deceased from apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

It is believed that the Rozario family has been a resident of Lower Makefield for the past four years. 8-year-old Fabian attended Afton Elementary School. Pennsbury School District officials have arranged for grief counseling on Saturday July 22nd from 10 am to 1 pm at Afton Elementary School.

The investigation is ongoing. The decedents are in custody of the Bucks County Coroner’s Office where an autopsy is scheduled for some time today, officials said.

Two sources told Lower Bucks Source that Lower Makefield Township Police are investigating a murder-suicide on the 500 block of Heritage Oak Drive.

Police officials said Friday morning an update on the circumstances surrounding what appears to be family tragedy will be released today.

Chief of Police Kenneth Coluzzi told Action News 6 police Thursday night officers were performing a wellness check. When they arrived at the residence they saw a child laying dead inside the home.

Coluzzi said officers kicked the door in and found a father and son dead from gunshot wounds to the head, the report says.  

A tipster living within the crime scene said  police activity started around 9:30 pm if not before.

“It was quiet and intense. You see all those flashing police lights. It can be overwhelming.  ”

The tipster said prior to the police arriving on scene he didn’t hear or see anything out of place.

“I didn’t hear any gunshots. Before that  I didn’t see anyone suspicious around.”

A second tipster, who was driving in the area police when cordoning off the area said, he saw tears in the eyes of first responders on scene.

“I don’t know what’s going on over there but the facial expressions of the first responders says it all to me”

According to Action News, 8 -year-old boy and his 47 year-old father died in the shootings.

The identities of the victims were not released by police as this time.
