Levittown Man Jailed for Reported Attack of Police with Machette

A Levittown man was taken to Lower Bucks Hospital for a mental health evaluation after allegedly “attacking police with a machete.”
Sources told Lower Bucks Source the incident occurred around 1 am Thursday when John D. McCallum 66 was confronted by police after receiving reports of a man seen with the deadly implement.
The sources said they could not provide where the alleged incident took place in Middletown section of Levittown, but did say police used paint balls to gain control over the older man.
Middletown Police Thursday morning filed an arrest warrant for McCallum charging him with one felony count of aggravated assault, one felony count of terroristic threats, simple assault and resisting arrest.
Days before the Levittown man was cited by State Police for motor vehicle summary offenses including fraudulent use or removal of a registration plate.
Public safety sources said McCallum is currently on a mental health hold at Lower Bucks Hospital.
An attempt to reach Middletown Police for comment on the incident was unsuccessful as of 10 am this morning.
