Middletown Man Charged with 25 Drug Related Offenses gets 3 Years Probation

Credit: Middletown Township Police Department

A Middletown man arrested for selling drugs to undercover officers five times, with the help of an informant in 2018, was sentenced to a maximum of three years of probation according to online court records and community members are outraged.

Matthew Mazurek, 36 of the Middletown Township was sentenced Tuesday in the case that received plenty of local attention when two publications published stories of his arrest in August 2018. As a result multiple sources who asked not to be identified contacted this community based news organization last week “upset” with the final sentencing.

“This is F**king ridiculous” a source contacting LBS late Tuesday said, “What happened to the cleaning up our neighborhoods of this poison and the people dealing death?”

“I don’t know what’s going on with the people making these decisions, but it makes you wonder what went into that, a second source said incredulously. ” I watched to see if there was going to be follow up stories and nothing. Its Friday and not one word about our local drug dealer getting no jail time.”

LBS on Tuesday and Friday of last week, contacted the Bucks County District Attorneys office for comment, no reply was provided.

Originally Mazurek was charged, according to court documents, with five manufacture and delivery felonies, five criminal use of a communication facility felonies, and 15 additional drug distribution and possession misdemeanor offenses, according to online court records

The sales to the undercover officers took place over a 2o-day period during February and March of 2018, according to court records.

Middletown Police, court records say, were tipped of to Mazurak’s activities by an informant who told investigators about possible drug related activities at the mans residence on Ascot Lane, in the Langhorne section of the township.  Detectives, through the use of undercover police officers began making a string of purchases for methamphetamine and heroin, court records show.

The buys took place at various locations in the township and close to Mazurak’s home on Ascot Lane.

After the final purchase on March 12, in which investigators bought more drugs, authorities  executed a search warrant on the suspects  home on Ascot Lane.

Investigators seized a “substantial” amount of cash and drugs from the search; Heroin, meth, and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia, were foundin the search according to the criminal complaint.

Mazurek pleaded guilty to one felony count of  manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and 15 misdemeanor drug related offenses and was sentenced by Judge Raymond F. McHugh

McHugh  sentenced him to a maximum of three years probation, continue in treatment until successfully discharged or discharged by the Department of Probation and to comply with all standard conditions of probation reporting when and where directed, according to online court records.
