A New Jersey man was sentenced on Thursday to five to 10 years in state prison for committing two armed robberies in Morrisville Borough in September 2023.
Emanuel Hernandez Caudrado, 40, of Trenton, pled guilty in November to two counts each of robbery and possession of a weapon. He was sentenced by Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman to 2 ½ to five years in prison for each case, with the sentences running consecutively. Hernandez Cuadrado was also sentenced to five years of probation, with that running consecutive to his confinement.
Judge Gilman also ordered Hernandez Cuadrado to undergo a mental health evaluation, drug and alcohol assessment and pay restitution of more than $1,300 to both businesses. The defendant robbed a Dollar Tree on E. Trenton Avenue at knife point at 9:14 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2023. During the robbery, he pulled a silver knife with a black handle and a loaded syringe on a cashier and demanded money. He made off with $140.
Two days later, the defendant robbed the Triple 1 Smoke Shop on E. Trenton Avenue. In the robbery, Hernandez Cuadrado, also pulled a silver knife with a black handle on the cashier and took $500 from two registers and filled a plastic bag with multiple cartons of cigarettes.
In both robberies, the Hernandez Cuadrado fled on a bike. Police recovered surveillance footage that showed him crossing the bridge into Trenton and removing and discarding clothing.
He was arrested by Trenton Police on Sept. 25, 2023. When he was arrested, Hernandez Cuadrado had a bike that matched the one he was seen riding over the bridge.
He was also in possession of 16 unopened packs of Newport cigarettes and a black-and-silver knife. The defendant was also in possession of a bike that was used during the Sept. 22 Dollar Tree robbery.
