“Related Arrest” Made in December Morrisville Homicide, Says Chief of Police



Morrisville Borough Chief of Police George McClay revealed new details about the investigation into a man shot and killed last month in Morrisville Borough days before Christmas.
During the Morrisville Borough Council meeting, McClay said an arrest was made related to the shooting but would not specify the conditions and or suspects name involved with the arrest.
“We’ve made an arrest on a related matter. We did not clear the homicide yet. There is a lot of work being done …we’ve brought the FBI in the other day so we’ve been doing a lot of work” McClay said.
The update which was given during the Chiefs report segment of the Council meeting, held in a public forum led McClay to say he didn’t want to answer any other questions the during meeting.
“I don’t want to answer any questions in public,” related to the investigation, he told Council members, he said.
Police were dispatched around 8:45 p.m to 20 Lenora Avenue for reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival Police found Victim Clifton Burgess, 26, shot multiple times in the head and chest and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he was pronounced dead sometime later.
Police said multiple fired rounds were collected at the scene as well as multiple gunshot markings made on the SUV Burgess was found in.
Police at the time of the just before Christmas weekend shooting described it as a domestic argument.
A review of arrests made by Morrisville Police since December 23 to January 17, 2023, provided no additional information about the arrest made, since no date additional information for the criminal filing was provided by Morrisville authorities.
