A drunken Trenton, New Jersey man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend three times after he broke into her home is in Bucks County Correctional Facility for the violent attack.
Davon J. Billups who turns 24 late next week was arraigned by On Call District Judge Corryn L. Kronnagel on two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of felony burglary, reckless endangerment and related offenses for the January break-in and attack.
Justice Kronnagel set Billups bail at 10 percent of $500,000.00.
According to court records, Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Plaza Blvd for a stabbing incident that just occurred. The victim told police her ex-boyfriend broke into her home, held her hostage for two hours, stabbed her in the legs, then fled out the backdoor.
Police observed three stab wounds to the victim’s legs and took pictures for evidence collection purposes, court records show.
The victim told police the entire episode started earlier that night while she was at a family member’s home when Billups emailed her a picture of her son’s PlayStation. She said she had hoped he would return it to her, and leave. He was. she said, outside of her home, police wrote in court paperwork.
The victim returned to her home to confront her ex, choosing not to call police, hoping he would return the PlayStation and leave.
Billups wrecked the television in the victim’s bedroom and when she arrived home at 3:40 a.m. he was on location, police said. He started to threaten the victim as they argued back and forth for some time. He allegedly said he was going to kill her like his cousin murdered his girlfriend. He subsequently went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and came back to the bedroom.
The victim said she was sitting on her bed when Billups stabbed her three times. In defense she grabbed a pair of scissors and when he approached her again, she swung them at the suspect, and he fled. After charging her phone, she called the police.
On scene officers noted shredded bed sheets with blood on them and collected a large chef’s knife with blood on its tip, the criminal complaint alleges with bloodied pants the victim was wearing during the stabbing.
Police said Billups was located on West Trenton Avenue in front of McDonald’s with blood all over his clothing and cuts on his hands. Police noted he appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on January 24 and has no attorney of record, court records show.
