Press Release from the Falls Township Police Department
The value of the Police canine is at times immeasurable and the cost for quality training and equipment to keep the four-legged officers prepared for duty can be vast. Today, Bucks County police officers and their canine partners received equipment necessary to keep them sharp from the Bucks County Technical High School. Over the past year, police K9 handlers discussed necessary plans with Carpentry Instructor/ NCCER Master Instructor Mr. Evan Baker and Instruction Facilitator Mr. Larry Breault. Under their guidance, the 21st CCLC Community Construction Club and The Carpentry Program at B.C.T.H.S. prepared and built a scent detection training wall and scent detection training boxes. These training aids will assist the police dogs in training to locate explosives and dangerous narcotics in the local area.

After all of their hard work, students were given the chance to watch as the police canines tested out the final product. They were provided lecture towards the science behind scent detection and a practical demonstration of the police dogs abilities. The students then enjoyed a meet and greet with the handlers and their partners, Chief Nelson Whitney of The Falls Township Police Department, and Sgt. Tom Gaffney of The Bristol Township Police Department.
The involved Police Departments, Officers, and of course the police dogs, would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the students and staff. Your hard work will help keep members of the community safe. Bucks County Police Officers and K9s with carpentry instructors and students from BCTHS.
