Cops: New Jersey Man Charged for 2019 Yardley Mailbox Thefts

Almost one year to the day, the Yardley Borough Police Department announced an arrest for a series of thefts from post office discovered last July. 

Yardley authorities say Isaiah R. Wharton, 23 of Patterson, New Jersey is the culprit responsible for stealing thousands of dollars from 12 victims when he broke into their personal mail boxes at the Yardley Post Office in July of 2019. 

The initial investigation was launched after a Yardley Police Officer was dispatched to the 60 block of South Main St. to investigated discarded mail bins, police said. 

Further investigation led to the identification of 12 victims who had mail stolen and checks altered totaling thousands of dollars and the identification of a Wharton, authorities said. 

The Patterson, New Jersey man has been charged with two counts each of theft by unlawful taking, access device fraud, receiving stolen property and tampering with records.

Wharton is scheduled to appear in District Court on July 28 to answer to the charges.
