Nearby: Police Warn about “Distraction Burglary” Suspects



Area Police are alerting the public about two suspects posing as electrical workers in four separate burglary attempts in spanning three Pennsylvania counties.
According to police in Buckingham, Bedminster, Plumstead townships and the city of Easton, two men acting as electric workers and employing “distraction” in burglary attempts seemingly targeting seniors.
Police say, last Saturday the suspected duo were in Plumstead Township, attempting to set up a senior, around 11 am. Nothing was stolen, said local police, in that incident.,
In the Easton (Northampton County) incident, police said the suspects were not wearing uniforms, but victims in Bebminster Township told police, one of the suspects was wearing a “reflective construction vest.”
Easton Police said the men in there incident did not have proper identification and said one of the men tried to distract the resident while the other tried to get into the home.
In the Buckingham Township incident, the same suspected pair of suspects, last Saturday approached a Sugarbottom Road home telling the elderly resident his power was going to be interrupted due to planned work on the neighborhood’s telephone poles. The man asked the resident to accompany him to his rear yard to find an area they could set up a generator for him. While in the rear yard, a second male entered the residence through an unlocked front door and stole a large amount of currency, said police.
In all of the above incidents, a white utility truck without markings, with a yellow light on the roof, was spotted.
The suspects are described as white males, one being about 5’9 clean shaven and wearing a hat said police.
Police are warning the public to be on the lookout for the distinctive looking truck in their area, since the suspects are alleged to have traveled as far as Hanover Township in Luzerne County employing, a similar, if not exact, “distraction” technique there too, reported PA Homepage.com
