A 36 year-old Bristol woman spent a night in jail after she punched a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper (PSP) in the face for reasons known only to her.
According to court papers, on August 28 at approximately 9:20 p.m., a PSP Trooper patrol vehicle went to assist a second Trooper with a traffic stop in which a individual was detained for a warrant on Ford Road near Rt 413, in Bristol Township.
While the Troopers were waiting for the warrant to be confirmed, an unidentified black female, later identified as Shawna Wiggins, walked into the area of the traffic stop, smoking a cigarette, police said.
Wiggins proceeded to walk past one Trooper and made an abrupt move towards the second Trooper and punched him on the left side of the jaw, the probable cause alleges.
Wiggins was taken into custody and transported back to the Pennsylvania State Police – Trevose barracks, where she was processed.
According to the probable cause the incident was captured visually and audibly, via the Axon vehicle and body cameras
She was arraigned on aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice and related offense by on-call District Judge Magisterial District Judge Lisa J. Gaier early August 29, setting bail at 10 percent of $50,000. Bail was posted the following day by a professional bondsman and she was released.
Wiggins has no attorney of record and is due back in court on October 27 for a preliminary hearing.
