Sheriff Fred Harran and the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office are proud to announce that Deputy Christina Brewerton and her K9 partner, Zeke, have received a special commendation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Newark Division for their invaluable assistance in the investigation of a domestic bombing case in July.
The commendation recognizes the team’s crucial role in the multi-agency effort that led to the successful identification and arrest of Michael Patrick Takacs, Jr., of Warminster. Takacs was charged in connection with the detonation of an explosive device at the Delran, New Jersey, home of his former supervisor which caused significant damage to a vehicle and surrounding residences. The K9 team was instrumental in the case after K9 Zeke gave a positive alert for the presence of explosive materials on the suspect’s vehicles, providing investigators with key physical evidence and provided probable cause for further investigation leading to the arrest.

The commendation stems from an incident that occurred at approximately 2:42 a.m. on July 26, 2025. An explosive device was detonated in the driveway of a Delran, NJ, residence, targeting the vehicle of a former supervisor of Takacs. The powerful blast scattered nails and bolts, causing significant damage to the vehicle and adjacent homes.
As part of the multi-agency investigation, Deputy Brewerton and K9 Zeke were dispatched on August 1, 2025, to assist federal agents at the suspect’s residence in Warminster. K9 Zeke, a certified explosives detection dog, conducted a search of two vehicles associated with Takacs: a black Jeep Renegade and a white work truck. The K9 gave a positive alert on both vehicles, indicating the presence of explosive materials near the front passenger side of each. This critical finding provided investigators with key physical evidence linking the suspect to the materials used in the bombing.
Following his arrest, Takacs, was charged in Camden federal court with four counts: One count of transporting an explosive with intent to intimidate and damage property, one count of unlawfully transporting explosive materials, and two counts of unlawful possession of an explosive device. These federal charges carry maximum potential penalties of up to 10 years in prison and significant fines for each count.
