Supportive friends, family, and crew members cheered on 62 volunteer firefighters during the December graduation ceremony at the Bucks County Community College (BCCC) Newtown Campus.
The graduates completed two certification classes: Basic Fire Academy/Firefighter 1 and Advanced Fire Academy/Firefighter. The firefighters received certificates from Dr. Patrick M. Jones, President & CEO of the College and were congratulated by state Senator Steve Santarsiero and state Representative Perry Warren (D-31). Training took place at the Lower Bucks County Public Safety Training Center in Croydon and the Bucks County Public Safety Training Center in Doylestown The national certification enables volunteers to help protect their communities and fill the critical shortage of first responders.

Paul McCann of Hatfield, a volunteer with Colmar Fire Company, received an outstanding student award. McCann, who completed the Advanced Fire Academy/Firefighter 2 certification, was congratulated by (from left) state Rep.
