Lower Bucks Hospital’s Laboratory Department Donates Cutting-Edge Equipment to Bucks County Community College

Lower Bucks Hospital is proud to announce a significant contribution to the education of future medical lab technicians through a generous donation of state-of-the-art laboratory instruments  to enhance the learning experience for medical lab technician students at Bucks County Community College, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the latest advancements in blood banking technology.

The donation includes cutting-edge equipment from QuidelOrtho, an MTS incubator, and an MTS centrifuge from the hospital’s blood bank

This initiative aims to enhance the learning experience for medical lab technician students at Bucks County Community College, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the latest advancements in blood banking technology.

The partnership was initiated by Dhruti Patel, the laboratory director at Lower Bucks Hospital, who recognized the importance of providing students with hands-on experience with current technologies. “We believe that investing in the education of future healthcare professionals is essential for the advancement of our community’s health services,” stated Patel. “By donating these instruments, we are not only supporting the students but also improving the quality of laboratory services in our region.”

“At Lower Bucks Hospital, we understand that the future of healthcare lies in the hands of our students. By donating advanced laboratory equipment to Bucks County Community College, we are equipping aspiring medical lab technicians with the tools they need to thrive in their careers,” said Mary Hartman, blood bank supervisor of Lower Bucks Hospital. “This partnership not only enhances their education but also strengthens our community’s healthcare system, ensuring that we are all prepared for the challenges ahead.”

Michael Motte, CEO of Lower Bucks Hospital, added, “This donation reflects our commitment to fostering educational opportunities and supporting the next generation of healthcare workers. By collaborating with Bucks County Community College, we are ensuring that our local students receive the training they need to excel in their careers and contribute to our community’s health.”

The donation will be received by Bucks County Community College, an institution renowned for its commitment to health sciences education. Bucks County Community College Dean of the School of Health Sciences Connie Corrigan, expressed her gratitude for the donation, stating, “We are thrilled to receive this generous gift from Lower Bucks Hospital. These instruments represent the latest in blood banking technology, and they will provide our students with invaluable hands-on training that is critical for their future careers in the healthcare field.”

The coordination of this donation was expertly handled by Karen Gatewood, associate professor and program director of the Medical Laboratory Technician program at Bucks County Community College. Gatewood emphasized the importance of practical experience in lab training, saying, “Having access to modern equipment allows our students to gain the skills they need to excel in their careers. This donation will greatly enhance our program and help produce well-prepared lab technicians for the future.”

As healthcare technology continues to evolve, partnerships such as this one between Lower Bucks Hospital and Bucks County Community College are vital for bridging the gap between education and practical application.
