Upcoming Events at Silver Lake Nature Center for October, 2022

Saturday Morning Bird Walks. These Guided Walks are offered from September through November AND March through May at 7:30am. FREE. Bring your binoculars if you have a pair! Meet at the Welcome Kiosk outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center.

Volunteer Work Day. Saturday, October 1st, 9am-12pm. On this Volunteer Work Day, we will be focusing on the removal of “invasive plants” throughout SLNC. Thanks to generous grant-funding from Giant and Keep PA Beautiful, we were able to purchase much-needed tools to help with this project.

Volunteer Work Days take place on the first Saturday of each month, from 9am to 12pm. The beautiful SLNC Trails/Grounds would not be so beautiful if not for the help our many amazing, dedicated Volunteers!

For those helping out on October 1st (or any of our upcoming Volunteer Work Days), be prepared to get wet and dirty. Bring a refillable water bottle. These events are held Rain or Shine (with rare exceptions for extreme weather conditions). Meet at the SLNC Pavilion (near the SLNC Visitors’ Center).  Day-off from School Camp Days. Why only have Camp in the summer when you can do it in all seasons?! SLNC’s School-year Camp Days are scheduled for days when most schools are off. Each Camp Day provides exciting seasonal adventures for your child (5 – 14 years old). Staff and Campers spend the days exploring the forest, swamps, and marsh in all weather. Day-off Camp Days are scheduled from 9am to 4pm (with Before/After Care Options available) on: 10/5/22; 11/8/22; 11/23/22; 12/23/22; 1/16/23; 2/20/23; 4/7/23; and 5/16/23. Full Moon Sound Journey with Rainbows of Healing. Friday, October 7th, 7 – 8:30pm. We are delighted to welcome Rainbows of Healing back for this very special event! For information and/or to register, visit www.RainbowsOfHealing.com.

Bird Seed Sale. Saturday, October 15th (Orders due by 10/8), 10am-2pm. Bird watching is more fun when you can attract them to your own yard, so fill your feeders with one of our special mixes. Friends of SLNC Members receive a 10% discount on all Orders. Bird Seed Sales are scheduled for 10/15/22; 12/17/22; 2/18/23; and 4/15/23. Earthship Tours. Saturday, October 15th, 1pm-2:30pm. Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures! Tours are FREE, but donations to the nonprofit Friends of SLNC are greatly appreciated. Register at www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or call 215-785-1177.

 Al Mikula’s Red Garter Big Band Concert. Friday, October 28th, 7:30pm. SLNC is delighted to welcome this amazing ensemble of Big Band Musicians for a most spirited evening of music & fun!

This event is a fundraiser, and 100% percent of the proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center organization. Concert will take place in SLNC’s indoor Auditorium. Space is limited.

Tickets: $20/person. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless event is canceled by SLNC. Visit www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or call 215-785-1177 for tickets.

Trails are open daily, from Sunrise to Sunset. SLNC Visitors’ Center is open, Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-5pm & Sundays, Noon-5pm.

The Silver Lake Nature Center, where learning comes naturally, is a 264-acre Nature Preserve located in Bristol Township, Bucks County. It is a facility of the Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation with additional funding and staffing provided by the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center nonprofit organization. SLNC is home to over 40 plant and animal species listed as rare, threatened, or endangered in Pennsylvania. Participation in programs helps protect these species and their habitats. SLNC does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its programs, activities, or facilities. People with special needs are asked to give advance notice.

The Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation was established in 1953. The Department is responsible for the acquisition, development, and preservation of open space and regional parks. The Department seeks in every endeavor to improve the quality of life and environment for all Bucks County residents, by working to enhance existing and projected recreational and cultural needs for our County.
