SLNC Tree Earns Big Distinction
The Silver Lake Nature Center has some great news to share recently about a beautiful Eastern Redbud Tree located in the Pergola just outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center.
The tree has been accepted into the PA Big Tree category and it is now listed as the number three largest Eastern Redbud in Pennsylvania and the largest one in Bucks County!!
“We thank the amazing Artist/SLNC Volunteer, William. Roger Clark, for nominating this beautiful tree and doing so much to complete the process forus,”said SLNC Director-Naturalist PattiAnn Cutter.
The PA Champion Tree Program is a program of the Pennsylvania Forestry Association (PFA).PFA is an entirely volunteer-run program.
For more than 50 years, conservationists associated with the Big Tree Program have been seeking out and documenting the grandest trees in Pennsylvania. They work diligently to preserve and promote these living icons and to educate people about the key role big trees play in sustaining our forests and our environment, according to the PFA website.
