Borough School District Superintendent Search Ends Before it Begins

The anticipated search for a full time Bristol Borough School District Superintendent ended before it actually restarted Thursday night as officials announced Dr. Broadus Davis will take on the district leadership role.
School Board President David Chichilitti made the announcement at the beginning of last week’s school board meeting.
Davis, as reported by Lower Bucks Source first last April was originally hired to be the districts lead administrator on an interim basis beginning last month, when Dr Thomas Shaffer’s interim status was set to end.
Shaffer was appointed to the position as a stop gap measure on an interim basis in September of 2021. He will remain working for the district until March of 2023 to assist in writing the districts comprehensive plan in conjunction with the intermediate unit two days per month.
District officials planned to relaunch a superintendent search around the new year, they said in June.
Davis, according to Chichilitti, is sacrificing his retirement benefits to come back and lead the school district for a second time.
The life long educator served as superintendent for the district from 2003 to 2011. Davis also served in the Neshaminy School District as principal and assistant principal for 10 years, and most recently, was appointed by the Bucks County Commissioners Bucks County Community College Board of Trustees, a report from the Lower Bucks Times said.
Chichilitti said he was “thrilled” to hear Davis wanted to come back to the school district and a search would no longer be needed.
“Dr Davis will be making a sacrifice by foregoing his pension and just collecting salary from the school district.”
Official contract negotiations are expected to take place over the next few weeks, officials said, with a four year contract expected to be offered to Davis.
Once the details of the contract are finalized, officials will announce the deal at an upcoming school board meeting.
So ends the official search for a superintendent that started Dr. Rose Minniti resigned from the Borough School District to take a similar position with New Hope-Solebury School District, in 2021.
Davis made no comment at the meeting about coming back to lead the district once made official.
