Years from now children will be told the story about Mary Gesualdi, who taught hundreds if not thousand of Bristol Borough kids the value of reading during her decades plus run as a Snyder-Girotti elementary school teacher and reading coordinator.
Las Thursday the school district dedicated the elementary school’s library in her name in a ceremony to memorialize her dedication to teaching and commitment to library science the students she taught and mentored.
Elementary school Principal Kelli Rosado led the dedication ceremony before Gesualdi cut the ribbon. A plaque describing Gesualdi’s contributions to the school and its children was also placed in the front entrance of the information center.
“Mary has always had a passion for reading and a love of books and took every opportunity to share that passion with all of us. Our students are so much better and well read because of Mary and so is the staff” said Rosado of the much beloved retired teacher and now library volunteer.
The public was invited to celebrate the dedication in the library which also had a mural created which shows Gesualdi with children from the school who have since passed. .
Gesualdi retired in 2020 but remains active in all things Bristol.

In related school board news. The directors approved the contract bid made by T.E Construction Services, LLC for a base bid of a little more than $323,000 and a alternate bid of $399,000 for the removal and replacement of doors and windows at Bristol High School.
Officials said they received two bids on the project, which at its conclusion will provide the entire high school with new windows. The starting date for the work to be performed was not announced at the meeting. Officials said they expected the work to begin during the summer.
District officials noted High School seniors about to graduate – 70 in total- earned a total of $1.167 million in scholarships and community based grants towards college. The total surpassed last years scholarships and grants earned by students by about $500,000.00, officials said with local scholastic support coming in at over $90,000.00/
