Morrisville Dems Launch Podcast “Your Voice: Our Morrisville”

The Morrisville Borough Democratic Committee launched a podcast “where community comes first and Morrisville residents can be heard and valued,” the descriptor says.

Hosted by Amy Wuelfing, now with four episodes published “the pod” is gaining local traction.

Nancy Sherlock the Chairwoman of the Committee said Monday that the podcast concept was put in place before primary season launched. This was to help voters get to know committee-endorsed candidates versus Democrats without committee’s backing.

Sherlock said among the main topics discussed and will continue to be focusing on are the challenges the borough should be taking on but are falling through the cracks due in part to the fact the borough does not have a full time manager. Presently James Dillon is acting in an interim role, while also working in that same capacity for Bristol Borough. He was hired for $1 a little more than a year ago.

It doesn’t even appear that Council is actively looking to hire a borough manager and there are community issues and concerns falling through the cracks. This isn’t a criticism of Mr Dillon, it is one of how the council operates and implements policy.

Episode 1 of the Pod Kathryn Price-Engelhard, Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee, and First Ward Council candidate Shawn Ratti for a conversation about what’s happening this summer in Williamson Park — and what it takes to make those events possible.

Episode 2 Local historian Bruce Stevens shares the little-known but fascinating 120-year history of how determined residents, civic leaders, and volunteers fought to establish and maintain the library through decades of challenges. Then, council candidate and longtime resident Peggy Walsh joins to discuss her deep concerns about recent cuts to children’s programming and the potential loss of state funding.

Episode 3 Former Morrisville librarian and current library board member Connie Beadle, along with council candidate Peggy Walsh, for a candid and deeply personal conversation about the past, present, and future of our beloved Morrisville Library.

Episode 4 Morrisville Borough Council candidates Shawn Ratti (1st Ward) and Deborah Colgan (3rd Ward) ask a critical question: Who’s really running Morrisville — and what happens when no one is?

“With Your Voice, Our Morrisville, I’m just trying to make it easier for people in our borough to stay informed in a way that’s accessible and down-to-earth. We welcome input from everyone, and we’re not afraid to have tough conversations – that’s how progress happens. This town has so much potential, and it’s time we start tapping into it together,”  Wuelfing said.

Episode five which is going to focus on the still up in the air future of the Stockham building, Wuelfing said, with an anticipated release of late next week.

Wuelfing recently circulated a community based petition on Change.Org and launched a website hoping to save the building from being demolished.
