A Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) and is in effect from Monday afternoon until late at night with possible flash flooding.
Affected portions of New Jersey, including Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Warren Counties are possible. In Pennsylvania, affected counties include Berks, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lehigh, Lower Bucks, Northampton, Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester and Western Montgomery Counties, said forecasters.
Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are likely in the watch area. Localized rainfall totals may reach 3 to 5 inches in just an hour or two, resulting in flash flooding. Excessive runoff may flood rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor-drainage areas, according to the National Weather Service.
