‘No Kings’ Protes Brings Out Millions Across the Nation, Bucks Co

On Saturday according to organizers more than 7 million people us rose up at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states, DC, and cities worldwide to say: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.

Over 250 organizations, including Indivisible, the American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Campaign, and Social Security Works took part in the national mass mobilization of protestors who object to the disruptive and damaging policies of the Trump Administration, Indivisible Bucks County said.

Peaceful protests took place across Bucks County in Doylestown, Langhorne (outside of Republican Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick’s office and in Morrisville’s Williamson Park.

“No kings was important in showing how many people are aware of the anti democratic policies of this administration. I’m scared to death of where the secret masked army is going and growing. I can’t believe it has happened. All this hate and division is tiresome, I’m sick of it. All the retribution from our president! He is destroying the judicial system!” said Maun Flanagan who attended the demonstration in Morrisville.

Bucks County Commissioner and Democratic Congressional Candidate (PA 1) Bob Harvie said Democracy isn’t about the few it is about serving the many at the Morrisville event.

“When leaders act like they’re above the law or above the people they serve, they weaken the very foundation of this country. ‘No Kings’ means remembering that no one — not presidents, not politicians, not billionaires — is beyond accountability.”

Bristolian Danielle Joy described the protest as joyous in its ability to express freely and openly and peacefully criticism’s of the Trump administration and its policies.  She was at the demonstration outside of Fitzpatrick’s office where crowds lined up and around the One Summit Square office complex.

“The mood of the very large crowd was joyous. We chanted and danced a little and enjoyed tons of support from people driving by on Newtown Bypass, lots of honking and thumbs up. There were a few angry folks driving by, giving us the middle finger and such but it was so heavily outweighed by the unity, joy and support that it was barely noticeable. It felt encouraging. I love my community” she said.

The nationwide actions were organized by the Indivisible Project as part of the ongoing NO KINGS Campaign. A core principle behind all “No Kings” events is a commitment to nonviolent action.

Donald Trump and his enablers have hurt working Americans, terrorized our immigrant communities, and overreached their constitutional authority,” said Laura Rose, co-leader of Indivisible Bucks County. “We must all stand up to this betrayal of American values and ensure the rights of all are upheld. We will join our voices in peaceful opposition to Trump’s actions and priorities, and display our support for the foundational principles of equality, freedom, and constitutional checks and balances.”

Organizers are holding a “mass call” Tuesday evening to plan for “what’s is next”.
