With domestic violence and “toxic relationships” on the minds of many due to the ongoing investigation into Gabby Petito’s death, officials from A Woman’s Place will be tying purple ribbons around trees in Bristol Borough and other locations on September 25th in advance of October’s Domestic Violence Awareness events.
Marianne Lynch, Executive Director of AWP, said a recent public meeting the community is welcomed to come and help out beginning at 10 am on Mill Street this Saturday.
Ribbons will also be placed around Doylestown, Quakertown, and New Hope too, Lynch said, as part of the “Paint the Town’s Purple” initiative.

An informational table will be available and we would welcome any and all help, Lynch said, in bringing awareness to domestic violence.
The awareness campaign which takes place throughout the month of October is highlighted by the Candlelight Vigil to remember those who have lost their life to domestic violence, to honor the individuals and families they serve, and to advocate for lasting social change in communities and beyond.
This year’s Candlelight Vigil will be held Wednesday, October 6th, 2021 at 7pm at the James-Lorah House at 132 N. Main Street Doylestown.
Lynch said a recent statistic she heard said 275 million children worldwide grow up in homes where domestic violence is present.
A Woman’s Place (AWP) offers services to victims of domestic violence and their children that provide them the opportunity to make choices and changes that will lead to safer and healthier living. Staff and volunteers provide them with necessary tools, resources, education, and support that will empower them to move from crisis to flourishing.
