The Silver Lake Nature Center (SLNC) announced, on Wednesday, the official re-opening of its observation platform with a ribbon cutting ceremony set for Saturday morning.

All are invited to the reopening ~ ribbon cutting ceremony for the “much beloved and very missed observation deck,” reads a release from SLNC.

We will meet at the Welcome Kiosk outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center (1306 Bath Rd, Bristol, PA) then we’ll venture out to the newly constructed walk-up and platform, SLNC officials said.

Athena Contracting LLC, of Philadelphia was awarded the work contract for $459,000.00 by the Bucks County Commissioners in July. Athena, owned by Loretta Mitsos-Panvini,  is a Certified “DBE/WBE” woman owned business. The company offers various types of construction services including water/sewer site preparation work, painting and wall covering, carpentry as well as dumpster services, according to the company website. Construction crews started working on the project in August.

Naturalist-Director of SLNC PattiAnn Cutter was truly thrilled about commissioners approval of the new platform the center requested. She was already pondering the excitement for the reveal celebration last August.

I’m so grateful the commissioners approved the project request. We’re really looking forward to having the new observation deck open as soon as the work is completed, she said. When the trail(s) and observation deck reopen, plans are in the works for an official ceremony with all the bells and whistles to boot.

The ribbon cutting ceremony is set for this  Saturday (December 7th) at 9:30am! The community is encouraged to attend.
