Upcoming Events at Silver Lake Nature Center August 2022 

 Rainbows of Healing’s Candle Quartz Sound Journey. Friday, August 12th, 7 – 8:30pm. We are delighted to welcome Rainbows of Healing back for this very special event! For information and/or to register, please visit www.RainbowsOfHealing.com.

 Earthship Tours. Saturday, August 13th, 1 – 2:30pm. FREE. The SLNC Earthship will be open to the public today! Stop by to visit and learn about these interesting, sustainable structures! Tours are FREE, but donations to the nonprofit Friends of SLNC are greatly appreciated. Register at www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or by calling 215-785-1177.

Introduction to Kayaking. Saturday, September 10th, 9am – 11am. Have you ever wanted to learn how to maneuver a kayak? Well here is your chance. This two-hour class, led by Kayaking Instructor, Cameron Calista, introduces you to the parts of a kayak, how to hold and move a kayak paddle, how to enter and exit a kayak, ways to keep your balance while kayaking and, of course, how to get around on the water in a kayak. The Introduction to Kayaking Class takes place right on the waters of Silver Lake (at Silver Lake Park). **Participants under the age of 18 years old must have a Participating/Paying Parent/Guardian accompanying them on this program. MINIMUM age for this program is 14 years old.** Fee: $35/person or $30/person for Friends of SLNC Members. Register by visiting www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or by calling 215-785-1177. Saturday Morning Bird Walks. Offered from September through November at 7:30am. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the Parking Area. FREE.

 FREE Guided Walk on the SLNC Trails. Sunday, September 11th, 2 – 3pm. Join certified PA Master Naturalist, Patricia Merkel, for this leisurely, informative walk covering seasonal topics. Meet outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center at the Welcome Kiosk near the Parking Area. FREE. Register at www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or by calling 215-785-1177.

Charlie Zahm & Tad Marks Concert – A Tribute to John Denver & the Great Outdoors! Saturday, November 12th, 7:30pm. This amazing duo will be returning for another awesome concert with Charlie Zahm on vocals & guitar and Tad Marks on fiddle!

Admission is $15/person. To purchase tickets, please visit www.SilverLakeNatureCenter.org or call 215-785-1177. This event fills quickly! **Tickets are available in advance only.** Concert is scheduled to take place inside the

SLNC Visitors’ Center. Prices are the same for all ages. No refunds/exchanges unless event is canceled by SLNC.

 Yoga Classes Have Returned to SLNC!! Yoga Classes are offered on (most) Thursdays at 7:30pm. Fee is $10/person per class – payable at the Class.

From June through August, the Classes are planned to take place outdoors at SLNC’s beautiful Pergola (located just outside of the SLNC Visitors’ Center), but Class will be moved indoors in the event of severe weather.

Enjoy a one-hour Yoga class with certified instructor, Trina Shumsonk. This class is Vinyasa Flow based with a mix of Yin and restorative poses for a soothing balance. All levels of Yoga practice experience are welcome! Modifications and variations are presented throughout to fit the needs of every person. The Silver Lake Nature Center, where learning comes naturally, is a 264-acre Nature Preserve located in Bristol Township, Bucks County. It is a facility of the Bucks County Department of Parks & Recreation with additional funding and staffing provided by the Friends of Silver Lake Nature Center nonprofit organization. SLNC is home to over 40 plant and animal species listed as rare, threatened, or endangered in Pennsylvania. Participation in programs helps protect these species and their habitats. SLNC does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its programs, activities, or facilities. People with special needs are asked to give advance notice.

The Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation was established in 1953. The Department is responsible for the acquisition, development, and preservation of open space and regional parks. The Department seeks in every endeavor to improve the quality of life and environment for all Bucks County residents, by working to enhance existing and projected recreational and cultural needs for our County.
