Bristol Resident Earns Grant for Sports Leagues from Jersey Mike’s Subs

Bristol Borough’s Stacey Dragon was among five grant winners of Jersey Mike’s Subs for making a difference in the with her sports leadership for area kids.

Its the 5th year, Jersey Mike’s Subs has awarded five $5,000 Sub Abover grants to those making a difference in their local communities. The grants are designed to help the winners make an even bigger impact.

Dragon’s son, Daniel submitted the grant application, a spokesperson from Jersey Mike’s Subs, said.

“My Mom works tirelessly to make sure all the kids in our town that want to play sports, play… But with Covid, her program was hit hard financially with limited local sponsorship and funding,” he wrote.

Dragon said that if a family can’t afford to participate, they will find the funds so the child can play for free and get the needed equipment, whether for baseball, softball or kickball.

The borough little league season is just around the corner, with registration keeping Dragon real busy these days on getting kids involved by offering signup grants 

“We see a real need for these programs,” said Dragon. “Kids that are involved are less likely to get in trouble or miss school. The team atmosphere helps build better bonds with other kids and their families, strengthening our town as a whole.”

The grant effort by the popular sub shop has awarded 10’s of thousands in grants over the last five years.

“Since we started the program, Jersey Mike’s has awarded $125,000 in grants to individuals and organizations that are making a big difference in our local communities,” said Rich Hope, Chief Marketing Officer, Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, Inc. “We are inspired by the thousands of nomination stories we received and congratulate our 2022 Sub Abover grant recipients.”

Dragon was selected from nearly 3,200 nominations, Hope said.
