Falls Township’s Family Festival Weekend Set for Sept. 16-17

Credit: Falls Twp

Sometimes an event is so big it calls for an entire weekend. That’s the case with Falls Township’s combination Family Festival and fifth annual Touch a Truck. Dubbed Family Festival Weekend, the popular yearly events are joined by a brand-new Food Truck Festival to kick off festivities on Friday, Sept. 16.

The Food Truck Festival features multiple food trucks with eats ranging from pizza in a cone, to funnel cakes, festival foods, tater tots, and more. The SEVEN Band will perform throughout the event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, a roped-off beer garden featuring beer, wine, and seltzer for purchase by the can will serve as a fundraiser for Fairless Hills Fire Department.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, dozens of large trucks, excavators, towing vehicles, emergency response vehicles and various types of heavy machinery will be on hand for all to explore from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (with a sensory-friendly quiet hour from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) Truck operators will refrain from flashing their lights or blowing their air horns during this time.

Spearheaded by Falls Township Supervisor Jeff Boraski and the township’s Parks and Recreation department, Touch a Truck offers a unique opportunity for children to learn more about how the various vehicles on display serve as first response, construction, farming, manufacturing and more.

Also, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the community can enjoy face painting, balloon artistry, bounce houses, giveaways, table vendors, a DJ, and food available for purchase as part of the Family Festival. Fireworks to follow at about 8:30 p.m.

All proceeds from Touch a Truck will benefit The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial aid to families throughout the Delaware Valley who are in need due to recent tragedy or adversity. Michael Barkann, host of NBC Sports Philadelphia, began the Foundation in 2013 and will make a special appearance at the Touch a Truck event. He will also choose the raffle ticket winner for a pair of Eagles-Cowboys tickets for the Oct. 16 game, another fundraiser for his Foundation.
