According to the Go Fund Mepost “Sammy” was one of the 17 children napping when the crashed occurred. He sustained a lacerated liver, broken ribs, bruised lungs, a fractured hip and lots of bruises and bumps, the post reads. Although he has been released from the hospital he will need to use a wheelchair and, or walker to get around. He will also need physical therapy until he can ambulate on his own, the post said.
“Emily” the boys Mother, won’t be able to work as she will need to stay home with Sam and help him heal. With that being said her resources will be stressed as shewill need to provide for her other two “amazing kids” while paying the medical bills as they start to come in, Roberts said in the post.
Last Friday investigators said three of the four children rushed to the hospital were released, with a fourth (“Sammy”) remaining hospitalized with serious injuries. A fifth child who went separately to a hospital for treatment was also released, the DA’s office said.
The children sustained the injuries when a vehicle crashed into the Day Care Center on February 29. The driver of the vehicle, a black BMW, was treated and released from the hospital for minor injuries and was said to be making a delivery to the day care center by authorities.
As of Thursday morning The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office Crash Investigation Team and the Upper Southampton Township Police Department are still investigating the crash. officials said.
The fundraiser, started by Katie Roberts as of Thursday morning, raised almost $8,300.00 of its $10,000.00 goal.
“It truly does take a village when things hit home. Any donation would be so very much appreciated,”she said.
