Middletown Supervisor Has ‘The Rock’ in her Corner for Cancer Fight



A Middletown woman who is also an elected official got the surprise of her life Sunday evening when Duane ‘The Rock’ Johnson tagged her in an Instagram post, as she now is fighting a battle against Stage 4 colon cancer.
If you did not already know Anna Payne, 33 of Middletown Township, the one thing that is clear to friends and family is she is a fighter, and wins often and that’s the gist of The Rock’s post to her on her battle with colon cancer.
“Stay strong and keep the faith.”
On Sunday night, as the request of a ‘special friend’ Johnson tagged Payne in a post to her about her cancer fight.
Payne, who is on the Board of Supervisors and is the executive assistant for Bucks County Commissioner Diane Marseglia, and won a 2019 WKYW Woman’s Achievement Award. In his post, The Rock says “Anna stay strong. I also know the immunotherapy you are taking, you have 11 percent chance at fully responding and becoming cured with the immunortherapy, Well Anna you’re going to become a part of that 11 percent and that’s what we need and that’s what you need too and you’re going to be a part of that by fighting strong and keeping the faith, I love you and thank you so much for being a fan, and stay strong”
Payne said in a Facebook post in response Sunday: The Rock has been my hero for so long; this video means so much to me. For those who haven’t heard on 7/21/2021 I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer but this video will power me through. Special shout out to a wonderful person who wrote the letter on my behalf Words can’t express my true gratitude for making this a reality. #beatkancertogether.
Payne, who was busy being overwhelmed by the response to the Rocks post, was unavailable for comment Sunday evening.
