Deadline for 2021 Rent Rebate is Approaching

The deadline to apply for the 2021 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program for rebates on property taxes or rent paid is Saturday, Dec. 31.
The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older; widows and widowers 50 or older; and people with disabilities 18 or older. This year, eligible applicants will receive a one-time bonus Property Tax/Rent Rebate payment, which is 70% of the original rebate amount for every claimant who’s been approved for a rebate on rent or property taxes paid in 2021.
In February, Gov. Wolf proposed a direct $204 million to provide additional property tax relief to Pennsylvanians by expanding the Property Tax Rent Rebate program. This investment would be a one-time bonus rebate to current program users, doubling existing rebates with an estimated 466,000 Pennsylvanians receiving an additional average rebate of $475.
Applications can be filed online at mypath.pa.gov, and the Department of Revenue said that online applications will be processed faster than paper applications. For those who prefer to file by mail, paper applications are available at state-elected official offices, and their staff can help to answer any questions you may have or answer questions about paperwork.
The Property Tax/Rental Rebate Program is funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery. More than 440,000 applicants received payment for the 2020 year, which totaled more than $200 million, according to the program’s 2020 Statistical report.
