Fitzpatrick Wants 9/11 to become Federal Holiday

Credit: Submitted

On 9/11 and in between a number of remembrance ceremonies on a day many Americans use to reflect,ย  Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) introduced a bipartisan bill to make 9/11 a national holiday, The Patriot Day Act

New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer is the Democrat co -sponsoring the measure. .

โ€œSeptember 11, 2001 was a dark day in our nationโ€™s history, but in even in the face of a devastating attack on our homeland, the American spirit proved resilient,โ€ย said Congressman Fitzpatrick.ย โ€œI am proud to lead bipartisan legislation to recognize those who lost their lives on that day. We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.โ€

โ€œOur nation suffered immense loss on 9/11, but in the face of great evil, Americans of all walks of life came together to support each other โ€” especially in North Jersey, where we will always live in the shadows of those attacks. By formally recognizing 9/11 as Patriot Day, we will make sure that we always honor the memory of those who lost their lives that day โ€” and never give up our fight against terror,โ€ย said Congressman Gottheimer.

“Our bipartisan bill would honor the victims who lost their lives and first responders who answered the call by designating September 11th as a federal holiday,” Fitzpatrick said.
