The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for Monday, June 22 from 2pm until late tonight.
According to meteorologists, flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible for portions of Southeast Pennsylvania, including the counties of Bucks (Lower Bucks/Upper Bucks), Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Philadelphia, Western Chester and Western Montgomery. Also on watch – portions of New Jersey, including Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Salem, Somerset, Western Monmouth, and portions of northern Delaware, including New Castle.
NWS forecasts that flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Showers and thunderstorms with rainfall rates potentially of 1-2 inches per hour are expected across the watch area. In urban locations, this will be enough to trigger flash flooding. – Click here for NWS safety measures.
