Bensalem Township Councilman -elect Ed Tokmajian, Jr. acknowledged the historic moment about to happen at Monday nights reorganization meeting with Democrats taking over the majority on council;
This is first time in its history the township is seeing this kind of major change on Council, he said.
Tokmajian, Jr. Jesse Sloane and Joseph Wenzel swept the Republican candidates in the deeply red township in the November 2025 Municipal Elections, that for now goes blue.
Tokmajian, Jr. and Sloan lost their seats on Council in the a little more than four years ago, to Republicans are back and now joined by Wenzel.

The trio of Councilmembers to be sworn in have held several meetings with the mayor in advance of tomorrow tonight’s council reorganization meeting at the municipal complex
“We wanted to get Mayor DiGirolamo ‘s input on the reorganization and any thoughts he had on all of the appointments we have to make Monday night.”
The meetings were very productive and we look forward to working with Mayor DiGirolamo on making a better Bensalem for everyone, he said.
One slight change is the addition of Flager and Associates as co-counsel with Joseph Pizo as the township solicitor.
Pizo has worked for the township and along side the Mayor for a long time now, and we felt no need to change that, Tokmajian, Jr said.
Tokmajian, Jr said high priority issues facing council over the next four years will be to address infrastructure, storm water management, and the Neshaminy Mall Redevelopment project.
“We have to get the Neshaminy Mall redevelopment project right and we’re in no rush at this point,” Tokmajian, Jr, said, “it is the center piece of Bensalem and we’ll be for generations to come.”
He did say the trio of council members elect spoke with the developers Paramount Realty in recent weeks commenting the discussions were preliminary and fruitful.
Half the mall is expected to be demolished, officials have said in the past.
There is no timeline in place for the project but getting it started sooner rather than later is beneficial to all involved especially with the costs involved with keeping the mall open at this time.
“We know the eyes Bensalem will be on all of us and how we forward on this project. We campaigned on being transparent and that is how we expect to proceed,” Tokmajian, Jr said.
Jesse, myself and Joe are to serve all of Bensalem not just one political party.
The councilman elect, would not confirm or deny information Lower Bucks Source, tipsters have shared in recent days about he being elected by his fellow members to be Bensalem Council President and Wenzel to be elected vice president.
Anything is possible, he said.
Just like, Democrats sweeping all three council seats and be the majority for the first time in Bensalem Twp Council history.
Tokmajian, Jr, said, all thee members elect are eager to be sworn in.
Republican Councilmen Joseph Knowles and Edward Kisselback are the remaining Council members who each have two years left on there terms.
