If you were the victim of a crime in Bristol Township and Greg Beidler was on the case, you were going to get some answers. The same is true for his six years serving as a Bucks County Detective. Put the 38-year-lawman’s name in any search engine and will see for yourself all the big cases where his name appears. That’s why he was named Chief of Bucks County Detectives.
At a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Bucks County Justice Center, Beidler was sworn in as the new Chief of Bucks County Detectives. He has been with the investigative unit since 2018 after a distinguished career with the Bristol Township Police Department.
District Attorney Jennifer Schorn spoke glowingly of Beidler as she recalled many of the cases he worked and the “strength and protection” he provided for victims.
“Greg is a leader,” she said. “He displays leadership in everything he does, and his principles are always his guide.”
Common Pleas Judge Matthew Weintraub administered the oath as Beidler stood with his family in the crowded courtroom.
Weintraub, who was the District Attorney who hired Beidler, praised the new chief.
“When I think of Greg professionally, I think of the relentless pursuit of justice in a fair manner.”
Last month, Schorn named Beidler as the Chief, following the retirement of Martin McDonough.
In addition to serving his community as a police officer since 1986, Beidler served his country with a combined 24 years of service with the U.S. Army, Army Reserves, and the National Guard. After taking the oath, Beidler thanked those in attendance, which included family and friends, detectives, prosecutors and staff at the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, and current and retired law enforcement officers.
