PennDOT announced paving operations on the Market Street ramp will close southbound I-95 next Thursday night, October 2 in Center City Philadelphia, under the $329 million I-95 CAP project to replace and expand the covered area over the interstate between Chestnut and Walnut streets.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Thursday, October 2, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., the following morning, southbound I-95, and the ramp from eastbound I-676 to southbound I-95 will be closed and detoured between the I-676 Central Philadelphia/Callowhill Street (Exit 22) and Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) interchanges.
During the overnight closure of I-95 South, motorists will be directed to use the ramp to I-676 (Central Philadelphia/Callowhill Street (Exit 22), turn right on Callowhill Street, turn left on 6th Street, turn left on Race Street, and turn right on Columbus Boulevard to access the southbound I-95 ramp at E. Morris Street/Water Street.
During the ramp closure, eastbound I-676 motorists will be directed to exit at 6th Street, turn left onto Race Street, and turn right onto Columbus Boulevard to access the southbound I-95 ramp at E. Morris Street/Water Street.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or along the detour route because significant backups and delays may occur
